Duke University - Beautiful even in the rain!

Duke University is made up of approximately 6,700 undergraduate students.  Students can apply to the Trinity College of Arts & Sciences or the Pratt School of Engineering.  Duke typically accepts roughly 10% of regular applicants and 30% of Early Decision applicants.  If it is your top choice, consider applying ED!  Some notable facts about Duke:

• With over 9,000 acres, the "acre to student" ratio is pretty good!  Duke is surrounded by forest on one side, and access to the town of Durham on the other.
• Program II allows Duke students to create their own major, and the various certificate programs encourage interdisciplinary study. 
• All freshman live on East Campus, a short bus ride away from academic buildings and upperclass residence halls on West Campus.  In addition to freshman dorms, East Campus also has a dining hall and a library, which fosters bonding with your freshman class.  
• Some students will live in tents for weeks in order to get tickets to a home basketball game against rival UNC-Chapel Hill! 
• Jewish students can take advantage of the Freeman Center for Jewish Life, a 17,500 square foot facility built in 1999 that includes a student lounge, dining hall, social hall, library, sanctuary, classroom, and staff offices.  
• Duke offers semester long "Study Away" programs in New York, Los Angeles, and Washington, DC.  There are summer programs available in Chicago (new for 2014!) and Silicon Valley. 
• There is a Marine Lab located on a small campus in Beaufort, NC on North Carolina's Outer Banks. Check out the webcam on Pivers Island!
