Today we attended a presentation by the British Council about applying to universities in the UK. There are currently over 15,000 U.S. students pursuing degrees in the UK, and about 30% are undergraduate students. One key difference between the UK and US undergraduate education systems is that in the UK you apply directly to a major, or "course." This means that UK schools are typically a good option only for those who are certain of what they want to study. Applicants must demonstrate a sincere interest in an academic area, as well as a readiness for a more independent learning style.
