Frequently Asked Questions.
Laura, We don’t know how to thank you enough! You made a huge difference in the process of Jamie finding her first job. From reviewing and critiquing her resume from your perspective in industry, to persuading her to go on LinkedIn, to have her actually use her LinkedIn and letting her use your LinkedIn contacts! Jamie really learned a lot from talking to and meeting with your contacts and will carry their advice into her new job. Working with you gave Jamie confidence during the time she was so disappointed and felt everyone had a job except for her! We appreciate all you did for Jamie and us!
-Mom of a Class of 2016 graduate
Just wanted to let you know that I recently was offered a job! I will be working full time with the National Center for Victims of crime as a Staff Attorney. I wanted to thank you so much for all of your help and advice. I had recently been attending more networking events in the area and was more active on LinkedIn. I know that the advice you gave me will prove to be invaluable in the future, and I can't thank you enough!
-Recent law school graduate
Laura was insightful in her comments about my work and provided actionable examples and critiques. She was able to provide quality feedback in terms of what employers are looking for in resumes. In addition, she really pushed me to provide quality examples to the attributes I mentioned in the interview.

Can't my child get these services at his or her college career services office?
Absolutely! As a former Associate Director of Career Services in a university, I highly encourage students to utilize the resources offered at their schools. This program is for students who want more personalized attention and a dedicated coach with flexible availability to guide them through the process.
How do you schedule appointments? When are you available?
Clients can schedule appointments using a convenient online system. Appointments are available during the day, as well as some evenings and weekends. If you don't see a time that works with your schedule, just e-mail me at firstname.lastname@example.org.
Can you work with someone interested in Engineering? What about Public Policy?
I have worked with students in a wide variety of industries including everything from event planning to international relations to venture capital. The basic skills of self-assessment, self-advocacy and professionalism are the same in every field, though there are nuances to the actual job search across different industries.
When is the best time to start Real World Ready?
Students can start any time between freshman year of college (or 1L year of law school) and the summer or fall after graduation. An ideal time to begin could be when gearing up for the first summer internship search. If you are interested in our services for a high school student, or for someone more than a year out of college or law school, please contact me directly to discuss.
What if I'm only interested in part of the program?
If you already know what you want to do, or are already comfortable with interviewing and networking, no problem! The phases can be purchased individually.
What if I just want to consult with someone for an hour?
I am happy to refer you to several wonderful colleagues who do hourly work.
Can you guarantee that my child will find a job?
Nope. I can guarantee that he or she will be equipped with the knowledge and skills necessary to conduct an effective job search! But I am not a placement agency and cannot guarantee individual results.
