For families who are not interested in the Comprehensive Plan, we also offer the following services.
The College List
This limited program is for families who want help generating a preliminary list of colleges in junior or senior year and are prepared to handle the rest of the college admissions and application process on their own. Families who choose this option will meet for approximately 90 minutes with a Vinik EPS consultant who will generate a list of between twenty and thirty colleges based on grades, standardized test scores, academic and extracurricular interests and other factors (size, location, campus culture, etc.) that students consider important.
College Application Strategy
This program is designed for families who need limited assistance and are primarily interested in making sure that their children apply to appropriate colleges. Families who choose this option have three meetings with a Vinik EPS consultant but handle much of the admissions and application process on their own. The Basic Consulting Plan provides the following services:
One 90-minute meeting in 11th grade to generate a preliminary list of colleges and to discuss 12th grade classes, standardized testing, teacher recommendations and basic admissions concerns.
One 60-minute meeting toward the end of 11th grade to review and update the college list and to provide basic guidance about summer planning for admissions and applications.
One 60-minute meeting in the fall of 12th grade to help make a final college list and to discuss admissions strategy.
A modified version of The Basic Plan is available to seniors.
College Application Essays
Because interesting and well written essays are critical to strong applications and can be tipping points in college admissions decisions, Vinik EPS offers essential essay services to students (essay services are included in the Comprehensive Plan). Clients may purchase these services in blocks of 3, 6 or 10 hours.
Our consultants are available to help students with the main Common Application and Coalition essays, as well as the supplemental essays that many colleges require. For each essay, we will:
brainstorm ideas to create a topic that will answer the question thoroughly and that colleges will find compelling.
read and offer detailed comments about two drafts. These comments will address organization and spelling and punctuation, as well as content.
read a third, final draft and offer general comments that will allow students to put the finishing touches on their work.
